Some of my creations

A few neat things that have made my life easier or more enjoyable

I haven't posted anything on my blog in awhile so I thought I'd share some tips, tricks, and a few of my favorite things. Most of these are money-savers and time-savers.

1. Picasa - Free and simple Google program I use on my laptop to back up my photos and categorize them by face recognition. I've been using Picasa for many years now. The privacy settings ensure that our pictures are not made public.

2. Color Note App for Android - Free app I use several times a day on my Samsung Galaxy S4. The lists I create on Color Note help me stay completely organized. The sky's the limit on what you can create. My lists include:

  • To Buy
  • To Do
  • To Do Soon
  • To Do Future
  • Health
  • Wish List
  • Movies
This app includes reminders and the ability to color code, search and archive your notes.

3. Dollar Tree - As the name implies, everything in the store is $1. Really! Many of the items I purchase here are much more expensive (or unavailable) elsewhere. For example, I stock up on wipes for eyeglasses and sunglasses each week. I've never seen these wipes offered anywhere else. I also buy most of my gift bags at the Dollar Tree. The variety of sizes and designs they offer is much better than the selection at other discount stores. Whenever I need cleaning supplies or small storage bins, I go to the Dollar Tree first. I also find many quality supplies to make flower arrangements. The food selection they offer isn't that great, but I do get good deals on snacks and candy.

4. Lemon Lime Seltzer Water - Sugar free! Artificial sugar free! For something bubbly, we love this light and refreshing soda. Seagram's, La Croix, and Publix brands are great.

5. Starbucks - This tends to be a little pricey, I admit. But I consider it "cheap therapy in a cup." My drink of choice is a venti non-fat latte. It costs $4.23 with tax and contains 170 calories. As my daughter pointed out to me recently, it's like an adult sippy cup. She's absolutely right! And the warmth of the frothy drink brings me a lot of comfort.

6. "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" - Free webisodes of Jerry Seinfeld having coffee with his friends. Jerry. Seinfeld. Need I say more??? http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/

Check back later as I add more to my list.
